Lucie Kim
I was born Lucie Ederova in Prague, moved to Munich at the age of three, and was raised as Lucie Eder to adapt my name to its German heritage. After my marriage, I changed my name to Lucie Kim to fool everyone into thinking I am Korean.
In my interdisciplinary projects, I investigate questions of identity and the tapestry of our human relationships. How do we create our identities and what bonds do we form? A slow dance between individual and collective experiences that are shaped by culture, society, history, and personal history. Here, I find myself in the mids of an interplay between the self, location, and belonging.
Through the mediums of video, photography, and writing, I aspire to unearth these connections between us, our surroundings, our histories, and each other. This work aims to serve as a conduit for dialogue, introspection, and transformation.
